Robel Chemeda Disasa serves as the General Secretary of the Evangelical Students Union of Ethiopia (EvaSUE). Prior to taking on this national leadership role in 2016, Robel led the large EvaSUE ministries in Bahir Dar and Gondar, while working full-time as a university lecturer in engineering. Robel is passionate about seeing Ethiopian university students come to know, follow and serve Jesus Christ whole-heartedly, believing that there is no more strategic ministry than developing Christ-centered leaders for Ethiopia’s future.
EvaSUE is one of the largest student movements in the world with over 50,000 students involved.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia.
- Masters in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden.
- Began PhD. at Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium before joining EvaSUE full-time.
Robel, his wife, Tsehay (Kb) and their two-year-old son, Fikir live in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Fikir means “Love” in Amharic and he has certainly brought a great deal of love and joy to the Disasa family. Kb serves as the Senior Program Officer for Energy and Private Sector Development at the Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa and joins Robel in loving, serving and interceding for students all over Ethiopia.
